Let's Celebrate

There has been so much going on here recently that I wanted to put some of it in a letter so we can all be proud and share the celebrations together.

Since Rickel Redmond, our Leader of Enrichment, joined us, we have been able to take much more opportunities to get our children involved in lots of extra activities again.

In March, some of our Year 5 pupils took part in our first sporting tournament in a long time and made it all the way to the quarter finals of the Waltham Forest basketball competition

This was followed up by a tennis competition for some of our Year 3 and 4 children.  18 schools took part in the knockout rounds and our Ainslie Wood children made it all the way through to the final!  Congratulations to those who finished as runners up and returned with medals and certificates for their achievements.

In a bid to keep everyone moving, the whole school then took part in a nationwide skipping competition for all schools and colleges across the whole UK called JumpX. This competition ran for 5 days with daily scores being recorded online. Ainslie wood children managed to rack up a whopping 1.5million skips in 5 days which meant we came first in the whole country!

We would also like to congratulate the Year 6 pupils and teachers for successfully completing their SATs tests last week.  I was really impressed by the focused manner that the children arrived at school and tackled the papers each day.  Well done all of you.

As well as all of these extra celebrations, exciting learning continues every day around the whole building.  I hope you’ve been able to get in to at least one of your child’s ‘Stay and…’ sessions and/or to celebrate their learning achievements at a class assembly or project ending.

It’s so lovely to be able to participate in all of the additional activities again and I look forward to Ainslie Wood participating and getting more amazing results over the coming months and years.

Kind regards

Kerry Scott
